Made these cutting boards as gifts for family this Christmas. Made out of Hard Maple with accents of Jatoba, Walnut, and Bloodwood.

Followed instructions found here:
http://www.finewoodworking.com/woodworking-plans/article/a-unique-cutting-board.aspx

These cutting boards are really a joy to use. I feel like my cooking really steps up a notch when I’m cutting meat & vegetables on a piece of art! :)
Finished with 3 coats of Salad Bowl Finish. I feel that this is much more durable and less maintenance than mineral oil.

Really a fun project but does take a lot of work.
Thanks for looking!

Well done, I just posted my first cutting boards and I want to do some like this in the future.

Very nice! I like the traditional finish but I use the salad bowl finish for folks who are unlikely to maintain their boards. The salad bowl finish seems to resist water better for longer periods.

Very nice job. I have made several of these ribbon boards and there is a lot of work in making them. The hardest part of the project is glue and clamping to keep the lines in order.

Have your say...
