Here are three cornice boards I built for someone I know. She had three different windows she wanted them for. On two of the windows she had blinds. On those two she wanted the cornice boards to cover the hardware for the blinds and have curtain rods attached to the bottom of the cornice to hide the hardware for the curtains. The third one was a simple cornice board to cover up the curtain hardware I took all the measurements and built these in my shop.
I built them out of poplar and some poplar crown molding. I stained with General Finishes Brown Mahogany gel stain and then did two coats of water based polyurethane on top of that.

Dresses up those windows nicely.
