As I was in the mode of making stuff for my son (due Oct 29)I went ahead and built this stepstool for my nephew who will be 2. His initials are JB. The blue says JB not a fancy R by the way
Its an easy design made with poplar, pocket holes, and glue. It costs less than $20, but it is much better than the MDF versions you find at stores.
There is a bit of fun that goes along with this one. I was painting it on some plywood on my tailgate. I live in FL where it can rain hard quickly and and out of nowhere. I was painting away and felt some drops, I knew the big rain was coming so I frantically tried to move everything to cover. I moved my toolbox which was holding the edge of the plywood down… the plywood, the step, and the gallon of paint crashed onto the driveway. The driveway had a splash of paint on it about 13ft long, the step had 2 dents and the beginning of a hairline crack. The rain stopped before I even put anything away, just in time to not help at all with washing the paint of the driveway.
I had to spend the next hour pressure washing the driveway. Then redoing the sanding on the edges and painting. fun fun. All for a little step that he will probably throw and break in about 3 months.
