Project Information

The changing station I built for my daughter.

She has a small room and we didn't wanted to fill it with furniture and that it fill jammed, so my wife came up with this idea. The sketches we did were the perfect excuse to try the bandsaw I had just bought! :) I'm pretty please with the result; when closed, the whole thing is 10" deep and can also serves as a blackboard that we used to track her temp and so on when she was sick. She's 1 1/2 now and can 'draw' on it. There's a small dedicated space next to the mattress to put creams and diapers and so on.

We wanted a really glossy finish so after a few tries, I ended up painting the whole thing with rustoleum which did a really good job (gives kind of a laquer finish).

Made with pine so it doesn't weight too much when we open/close it. Handcutted mortise and tenon to get the best fit / strength possible.

Thanks for looking :)

Good idea, like the side curve for clothes bar.

Thanks Ed. The idea was to use the depression in the mattress. It's working pretty well and allowed to fit a small shelve. :)
