Project Information

I built this Blacker House Chair and Aurora table last winter. The chair and table both had been on my bucket list for a while. Both are made from African Mahogany with Ebony accents with General Finishes water based dye stain and poly finish. I bought the template kit for the chair from William Ng and did a lot of research to arrive at all the proper dimensions. The table is scaled down compared to a normal Aurora table. The regular size of that table, modern night stand size, is taller than the arms of the chair which wouldn't look to good. Both were a lot of fun to build and something I enjoy showing off when people say "you sure have a lot of tools, what do you make with this stuff".

Thanks for the kind words pottz. Darrell was instrumental in the down sizing of the Aurora table, creating a size that would work with the chair and keeping the scale of everything correct.

I think Darrell is one of the best when it comes to g&g I took a tour of the gamble house in Pasadena this year led by jim ipekjian who recreated all the furniture for the blacker house.you were very lucky getting darrells input I have a couple of his books that helped me with the table I built and I used a few of his design ellements, once again magnificent work my friend.

You built some beautiful furniture there. The chair is on my list of things to build. You definitely did it justice.

Well these two turned out beautifully! The chair is amazing, and I like how you scaled down the Aurora table to make a great side table! I can imagine enjoying a fine Kentucky bourbon in that chair, and having the satisfaction of having built them!
