This is an advent candlestick in the form of a traditional Swedish Lucia parade. The parade normally takes place early in the morning December 13th. First in this candlestick procession is the starboy followed by Lucia herself and then her five female attendants.
The base is a piece of massive oak (leftovers from this project) with attached figurines (turned from birch firewood) that have been painted white. I had to make a jig to hold all the figurines at the same angle when drilling the holes for the lamp holders. A traditional advent candlestick with LED lamps was gutted for the desirable electrical parts. The figurine arms are made from 3 mm steel wire that I bent around a tube and painted in silver. The total length of the candlestick is 44 cm (~17 in).
Not my design. I saw the original candlestick for sale on the internet and thougth that it would be a nice project to practice some turning and woodworking in general. My version is somewhat “pimped” compared to the original (star boy has a star stick, two attendants have tinsel wreaths, Lucia´s red waist band etc.).
