Christmas coming up and only Parqués to entertain the visitors, I thought I had better get my thinking cap on, so decided to return to my youth and come up with some games involving marbles. Number one on my list was Chinese Checkers.

My first problem was sourcing marbles here in Colombia, eventually I found them in an everything for 2000COP shop (60c / 42p). I bought 3/4” laminated oak board, printed of a template to size, used a hammer and punch to mark the centre of each hole, then using a bullnose router bit, cut the marble holes freehand.

Using up some of my scrap mahogany I trimmed the board, gave it a few coats of lacquer, and it was ready. All I had to do then was spray paint the marbles, as there is no choice of colour.

Full details of this can be found on my Blog

Next is Solitaire, so I can keep myself occupied as ‘Billy No Mates’!!! :D

Thanks Tom, I think Parcheesi is your version of Parqués, looking at a photo of the board!
