This was a project that I built from one of my box books (I’ll post which one once I look it up again / remember…. right now just populating my profile with all my old projects : )
I built this for my “honourary” nephew ie, my best friend’s son. All hardboard with working tumblers and locking mechanism. I was actually pretty impressed when it was finished and actually worked! It’s a great plan and relatively easy to build. Took me a day and a half including the finishing with the faux metal spray paint.
Edit: I looked found the book and it’s the same great book, Box by Box by Jim Stack that I used as the guide for my tea box project. You can click on the name of the book or HERE to get your own copy…. one of the best books I’ve bought so far for sure.

Excellent!
A great idea, and unique gift.
John, please, you have to tell us the details. This was from a published plan, “box books” ??
Thanks very much.

John,
Looks good, I’ve seen this in one of the books @ my local library. Is it maybe a Doug Stowe book?

My thought was to keep the key inserts to our power machines in this safe. Small, all-metal safes are readily available at the big box stores but thought it best if it were made of wood for a woodworking shop.
Can anyone point us in the direction of plans for this wood safe?
