I thought I would enter this into the summer challenge. As many of you have seen before, it is the stools that I made earlier in the year. The frames is held together with finger joints and there are 2 rails that are mortised and tenoned into the top for the seat to sit on. The seat is laminated into that shape with a piece of saddle leather glued to the top. A very simple looking design, but a bit of a challenge to make.
The second and third picture is of a different set that I made for a show, they are thinner and have a taper on the top and bottom pieces. I hope you enjoy…
P.S. I just realized that the summer challenge rules state that no glue can be used in the pieces made. I must not have read the rules very well, and would like to thank Don for letting me know. I am going to email Martin and ask that it be removed, seeing how the only way for the finger joints to work is to have a fair amount of glue in them. Thanks all.

Thanks Deb, you must be up really early. But I am slowly learning the art of photography. The best thing I ever did was buy a digital camera. Now I can take 500 pictures and I know at least one of them will come out good.

I like the stool but wonder how much weight it can take, my fat butt is pushing 250 lbs. I am not sure I would take a change at turning that beautiful piece of art work into kindling :)

snowdog-
I weigh about the same as you and I sit on one of these everyday at my work bench. I haven’t had them tested to see what they will take, but they will take my standing on them. I figure if they can take me they can take most people.

Kaleo… 500 pictures doesn’t account for the background, the angle …

Well there are two categories, garden and joinery. The joinery is the one with no mechanical fasteners or glue. The garden category allows such things. I would say these are patio chairs for sitting at a bistro table. They look great Kaleo.
