This box elder hollow form is a commissioned piece that I just finished. Measures 14 inches tall and 10 inches wide at its broadest point. All the hollowing was done through a 1” diameter hole and the wall thickness is a uniform 1/4” thick. I sanded this piece down to 600 grit and applied two coats of Deft clear satin finish followed by 6 coats of Deft clear gloss finish. The red streaks of the box elder swirl from the top to the bottom of the piece and completely around the piece.

You guys are making me envious with these Box Elder projects. I have got to find me some box elder lumber or trees somewhere. I just love that red streak in that lumber. Beautiful job on this hollow form.

Beautiful job! This is a fantastic design and turning! The wood is exquisite and the finish is almost blinding. It looks more like glass then wood.
Once more, you out did yourself. Keep up the great work. You are an insparation for us all.
