This is a hanging wall cabinet made from Sassafras and Curly English Sycamore. The long sliding doors anchored by the three bottom drawers are derived from a lot of the tansu I have observed and studied over the years. Instead of using traditional hardware I hand carved the pulls for the sliding doors and drawers. It gave the wood a chance to function as decorative handles. The back is a delicate frame work of Sassafras kumiko and mulberry paper.

Adam,
The carved/chamfered finger holes are a really simple and elegant design element on this piece!

Thank you all. It was a joy to make. The carved pulls came out of a lack of hardware that wouldn’t detract from the piece. Thanks again..
