I got this idea from the following website. They have many low cost, low effort, fun projects for which your wife will thank you.

The top (shelf) is a 4.5’ long 2×6. That is screwed through the top into the 4’ long 2×8 which is centered below the 2×6. I got the single piece of trim trim from HD. I caulked the trim in just like you would in your home. The paint I used is Canvas White from Sherwin Williams. I got the hooks from Hobby Lobby, just like the ones they used in the site above. I then distressed it by applying a black Valspar Antiquing Glaze. I applied it in sections then wiped it off, trying to get off as much as possible but making sure to leave it in the cracks. There still ends up being much on the project. Subtle but effective.

My wife got the noel idea from pinterest. I got the E from hobby lobby, painted it canvas white then sanded the edges. The N and the L are as simple as they look using wood from pallets. The star is made from scrap 2×8.

Realy nice project which can be done with scrap wood. I like the white colour on it.

I like it. Fits perfectly there in the entry way.
