I screwed up on this carving as I was not going to make a beard on it but salvaged the carving by making it with a large open mouth so it looks like it is yelling. Hence the Yelling Face.
As usual I mounted it in a framed mirror for additional composition.
Hope you all like it.
This carving was donated to a Motorcycle Run my Legion Riders is holding this Saturday for charity.

I wouldn’t say you screwed up on the carving, looks good to me Bug. You worked around a flaw and made it a more interesting piece. Keep at it, I like the style.

Thanks everyone. I read in a carving book that is you mess up try and save the piece if possible and that it sometimes turns out better. This one did.
I thought it was going to be another piece of “Designer Firewood” lol.

Very nice. Have you tried carving Santos? In NM there are carvers who use pine, cedar or juniper and carve Saints (Santos). Some are very nice. I see you donated the Yelling Face to charity. A Santos may be a good project for a church fund raiser if so inclined. I’ve never tried carving but I have a dead cedar tree that I have threatened to carve into one of these days. Good work.
