I finally got a decent sized woodturning job! I was asked to make some parts for a bed design similar to one sold online, as the customer wants to build one herself.
Everything went well, although I had an issue with warping on the rungs that led to the application of a little Bondo. DRAT! I am a perfectionist, and having to resort to such a thing is frustrating, but I learned my lesson from it. Thank goodness it’s paint grade.
There’s no substitute for experience, and I learned quite a bit on this project. Thanks for looking!

Great looking pieces. Looks like some I’ve done in the past. Bondo works miracles on paint grade material. Like an older gentleman I worked with several years ago once said. “We take pride in what we hide.”

Great job. Did you have a duplicator for your lathe? Until I got a duplicating lathe all I could build was “one” legged table and chairs. lol. Yours turned out great no matter how you did it.

Hi Hutch,
Very professional looking job. Looks like you had some fun on this job. What other kind of thing do you like to make?

This is the old man who takes a great deal of pride in what #2 offspring produces. We have been watching his giftedness for years. I’m a wannabe and just a little envious. And yes, he is definitely a perfectionist! (Not a bad quality).
Proud Padre,

In case you were wondering, the previous post was my Father. He visited over the Labor Day weekend and got on LJs without my knowing (under my name). LOL!
Dennis, I will do just about anything. I have been getting a number of small furniture replacement part jobs, but I also do bowlmaking, architectural turning (want to do this more), and hopefully sculpture. I even got a call about making a prototype for a commercially sold product (maybe).
However, I love furniture making as well, so we’ll see where the demand is. Who knows, maybe I can do both. :)
