I saw a chair similar to this one (same concept) on lumberjocks and thought, I’ve got to make one of these. I kind of just drew it out on paper so I could make sure the lengths and measurements all added up before I did. One of the few times an idea in my head became a reality.
The chair is made from cherry and walnut. I can buy both from a local Mennonite sawmill for $0.80 a board foot, which rocks…
The finish is a clear shellac
Hopefully my son will start using it to step up to the toilet as he will be pottytraining soon. Also he’ll now be able to reach the sink, and he has a chair his size. My wife and I are both pretty short so we’ll also be using it to reach the top shelf in the kitchen cabinet. Win win win

Looks good. Now if only I could find a place to get lumber at such a low cost!
