For Christmas, my husband and I gave each other a big screen TV. The only important thing though was that we had to build a cabinet for it as well as the components and speakers. By the time the holiday season was over, we had made the center cabinet that the TV sat on. And since then we have been building the balance of this unit.

This is made of African mahogany (I think). The face and the back is the solid wood. The balance is stained to match out of furniture grade plywood. The center of the doors is screen material and the speakers are behind them.

The real challenge was matching the stain and building the sides and top and have them all line up and work as a solid unit. I am really proud of the final result.

What do you think?

Beautiful Ellen. Masterfully done as usual. I recognize a couple of your pieces in there. Did you do the dolphin as well?

Absolutely gorgeous…really nice work. I like the tansu style pulls a lot (at least that’s what they look like from here!).

Thanks so much for the feedback. The sculpture of the dolphin is a sculpture I purchased on a vacation years ago. It just fit there really well.

The lighting in this worked out really well. As you watch the TV, the lights are not shining in your eyes, just highlighting the wood grain.

Thanks again

What do I think?? Stunning! I had to go back and really scrutinize the pictures to see that this wasn’t a single unit. The wood is beautiful. I’m inspired by your work.

Ellen I really like this. This has been a week for entertainment units and certainly yours compares very well. I really like the darker Mahogany, it’s such a nice change from everything Oak. (Not being critical of Oak, just like the change.)

Is that one of your pieces in the upper left corner shelf?

Thanks again for the feedback. The top left shelf is holding the Ball and Burl box. Above the TV is the pyramid box. It really is a great showcase of art in the house.
