Eucalyptus Stepped Bowl

Project by scrappy posted 104 days ago 258 views 1 time favorited 5 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Finnaly got a piece of that Eucalyptus turned that I had found. This stuff is still REAL wet! Was spitting at me when turning. Dried real fast on the lathe though. Turned the outside, Sopped for lunch, and it was cracked when I came back out. Turned the inside anyway just for the practice. Put some glue in the crack to try to stabalize it.

This is 4 1/4 diam. X 3 1/4 tall.

Finished with heavy mineral oil. Should help it to not dry out so fast. No more cracks have appeared in the last 6 hours so hope it is going to be O.K.

Thank you for looking. Please leave all comments and critiques.

Looks good.

When you went for lunch did you cover the blank on the lathe with a plastic bag? I will do this whenever I am going to walk away from a project that I started on the lathe. I will also add a little water to the inside of the bag to keep the atmosphere inside the bag damp.

I hope this helps.
