Hey there! This is my first lumberJock post. These are two nightstands that I have just completed out of Alder that my fiancee (now wife of almost a month) has been trying to get me to build. These were one of my first furniture projects, so I wanted to keep the design simple. I was going to design these in CAD to get all dimensions, but instead just came up with them as I went, and they turned out just fine.
All the joinery was done by Festool Dominoes, including the top and bottom platform. The grooves in the top and the bottom platform were formed with a razor blade and then chiseled out to get the shape. As for the drawers, this was my first attempt at finger joints. They came out ok, but as you can see I do need some practice. I made a jig and used a router for the drawer opening to get the shape for the drawers. The bottom of the legs do have a slight taper that I made on the table saw with a jig that I made also.
For the finishing, I sanded with 220 sandpaper. I used a base stain, cheated with spray lacquer, brushed on glaze, then spray lacquer again. I am happy with the end results and my new wife is very very happy.

Hi there! I’m new to this forum and pretty new to woodworking. I’ve been wanting to build a few similar tables. Do you mind sharing the dimensions of the table and drawers? Can you elaborate more on the finishing process or give me an idea where to learn about it? Thanks!!
