Hi Rowdy,
Flush mounted doors and drawyers are the most clean looking and most beautiful. I built a cabinet of pine with flush mounted doors and found it difficult to install the doors, much shimming to avoid scraping and getting hinges in the right place. Looks like you were very successful.

ROWDY, I LOVE IT. CRAFTSMAN IS MY FAVORITE STYLE TO MAKE. PLUS IT HOLDS UP WELL TO THE KANSAS SUMMERS. THIS ONE HAS ALL THE CLASSIC COMPONENTS OF CRAFTSMAN. YOU EVEN HAVE THE PULLS THAT MAKE IT WORK. WHAT IS YOUR HOME BREW? I LIKE THE DEPTH IT GIVE THE RIFT RO.

Nice job, Rowdy. Riff sawn white oak has been popular here lately, too. Has a nice, clean look to it. Nice design on this piece. Thanks for the post.

Great craftsmanship. I love seeing inset doors and drawers. (means you have to build a square box ,square doors and drawers) You did a great job. The Rifsawn oak was a perfect choice.

Thanks to all for the comments.
Jack, the inset drawers were indeed a challenge that sorely tried my patience. By the time I got them done my wife was threatening to move to someplace distant—like Argentina.
Sarge, the home brewed stain mix was (approximately): 30 parts Shaker Pine: 5 parts Special Walnut; 5 parts Red Oak.
I would note that for some reason the photography makes the piece look quite a bit more red than it really is.

Nice , very nice!
Rift sawn oak is great to work with, I really like my quarter sawn white oaks, but on some pieces it can be a little overwhelming. Good choice in this piece. Flush doors and drawers are goog looking but really can be a pain to fit. Ya done good!

Normally I don’t like red oak (overpowering flatsawn grain pattern that looks cheap to me), but riftsawn, it looks pretty good.
