Nightstand #2

I built this nightstand for a friend after he saw pictures of the previous nightstand finished a couple of months ago. I made a couple of improvements using the wisdom I gained from the last construction, such as the subtle front curves and the use of a gel-stain on the poplar to avoid blotching. This piece is also slightly larger than the previous nightstand. Any comments/critiques are appreciated.

Nice work Dan.

I’m liking this nightstand more than the one you did for your GF.

I really like the flair at the top of the legs where they meet the top, nice touch.

Well built. It looks like the gel stain did the trick.

I can’t believe this is poplar! Very nice color and finish.

Nice Job. Your finish turned out great. I have to agree with Christopher, hard to believe it’s poplar.

Thanks for the comments. I must say I was very pleased with the General Finishes gel-stains, as this was my first time using them since only using minwax from HD in the past. You get what you pay for I suppose.

Excellent proportions and a great finish. Very easy on the eyes. One of the best projects I’ve seen in a while.
