I needed some lumber storage in my shop other than a couple of saw horses so I came up with this simple but effective design. (I’m sure it’s been done before but after looking at and coming up with more complex methods this just slipped into my mind somehow and was perfect for my situation.)
It’s long enough to store a 12’ board and plenty of them. The way my shop is shaped and arranged this sliding in and out setup is perfect.
You can check out a more detailed approach of the lumber rack and some simple plans at my blog, The Woodworking Trip.

i start blogging my lumber rack construction and you go and show me up with this?
just kidding. This looks good and it looks like it will hold a ton. You are fortunate in that you can load it from an end. That allows you to make it very strong. better start loading it up!

Cool. My boyfriend designed something like this, but with 2 times more shelves, to fit in a long under the stair case closet. We can fit 8 foot boards in ours. I appreciate the effort it takes to put together.
