I just completed these for a friend. Yes more construction lumber furniture. 2 end tables and a sofa table. Red Oak stain with lacquer.

You talk like “construction lumber furniture” is a bad thing. I’m sure these are not going in one of those “big, fancy 2-story southern mansion with tall fluted white columns, dont sit on the sofa because you’ll wrinkle it” kind of house. In most ANY of your “regular folks” kind of houses, these things would be great !

Nice job !

Didn’t mean to come off like pine is a bad thing, it isn’t, but I have a whole stack of Rough cut walnut, cherry, Red oak, and Maple in the garage. It would be nice to use some of it. The leap in the bottom line is just a little too much for some folks. Thanks all for the comments.

Very nice! From what I can tell the stain came yet very clear for pine. What was your finish schedule?

Jamess, The trick is to wipe down the piece with mineral spirits just before applying the stain. It prevents dark blotchiness and helps distribute the stain more evenly, especially on pine.
