Today I made my first intarsia piece from Judy Roberts Studio. A small one from 6 pieces. With this verry little project I could try some things. This apple pattern was a free example. Now I can start with my raccoon pattern with I got today after almost four weeks waiting.

Thanks for watching.

Nice to see you moving in a new direction. Your apple appears to have nice joints, and the edges are sanded to create some depth. I know this is a warm up project for you, so I can overlook your choice of wòods.
Looking forward to your raccoon project.

Great start Jan. Some beautiful wood too and a cute worm. How did you like using the chevalet?

Welcome to the world of Intarsia. You did a much better job of getting the mating joints to line up than I did on my first attempt. Looking forward to seeing your raccoon.

Looks realy great, especialy the worm. Only what I dislike is that it’s too glossy for me (but it’s just me).

I was a few days “off” and near the big city Rotterdam. But still thanks all for your comments.

Mike, I did not that much with the chevalet, but so much that I still have a few things I will change. Next time more about it.

Ivan, Normally I never use glossy varnisch. But in this particular case I found that glossy was a good choice. I can remember that when I was young I always polished the apples to make them shine.
