Built myself two beam compass’s. One is a John Heize design and the other is another youtuber (can’t remember who). The pictures above are of one that is made from a single piece of ash. I like this one best for simplicity to build but John’s design feels more balanced when using it.

The below pics are John’s design. It is maple peices glued together.

I have seen a number of different designs and maybe have even favorited one but never built one, and then when I need one I have to grab a pencil and a string. Guess was just waiting for yours to come along. Nice thoughtful design.

I built John’s and like it but find it likes to move when you tighten down the point. You should check out Heisz’ new forum if you haven’t already.

Rick M. – I built John’s design first and had the same problem. That is why I built the other one and it doesn’t have that problem. I have checked his forum and found it informative.
