I finally picked up a few fountain pens to try. They’re all Jr. Gents. All are finished with BLO/CA. The first is ebony. The second is sapele. Third is paduak. The ebony id my favorite, as I think the blank and the copper set each other off just right.

Great pens. Also agree, can’t beet ebony and copper are a great combo. ( altho all are real nice)

Thanks guys. I’d shied away from ebony after some finishing issues, but glad I went back to it. Now I gotta tube some more, and see if my luck holds.

Beautiful job. It looks like you took extra care to match wood type and grain to the kits you were making. They look wonderful.

Thanks Mark. I just remarked on another of my postings that the matching can be one of the hardest parts. The rest isn’t exactly easy, but a bad match at beginning negates all the rest of the work you put in until it’s finished. No pressure, though.
