Bathroom cabinets

Project by puupalikka posted 112 days ago 234 views 0 times favorited 3 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This was one of last summers projects. My sister needed new bathroom cabinets, so i had job to do. The cabinets were made of 18mm thick pine sheets. The coating on the carcases is white Osmo Color wax. The doors are a pine/birch combo. The frame is made out of pine and the mirror is made out of 9mm thick birch plywood. At the doors i used waterbased stain and then clear Osmo color wax. Since i dont have planer or jointer, i have to buy my wood as a sheet. It’s an easy way to make cabinets, but I cant influence to outlook of the cabinets, compared if i would glue up my sheets and pick the lumber at the lumberyard.

The countertop is also made from pine, and the stain is also that waterbased stuff, but the coating is a lacquer made of boiled linseed oil and tung oil. The original use of this product is for wooden boats, so i figured that it would hold at a bathroom countertop! Only downside of that product is VERY slow drying. It took several days to dry out. But when it did dry it looked awesome!

The sink is also meant to a boat kitchen, because i had a hard job finding so small steel sink. There are a LED-lights at the top of the cabinets. All in all im pretty satisfied with the result, though there are always some things that you would make otherwise.

PS. I’d like to have some feedback about the project and about my english, because it’s not my native language. I’m not sure about all the “professional” words. Thanks!

Karri,

Nice job on the cabinets, I am sure your sister is very happy with the result.

As far as your English goes, you are a lot better at it than a lot of people who speak it as a native language. Besides, we all understand “woodlish” so not to worry
