Hey There Napaman, The wood is Mahogony.....Kristoffer, Thanks for the kind complement....mcoyfrog, Yes this is Mahogany.
Any of you work with Mahogany? I had problems smoothing the end grain. So much sanding.

Mahogany is really stringy so yeah end grain sucks to sand. I just get it the best i can then attack the smoothing during the finish steps, just sand between coatings of finish and leave some of the dust from the finish in the divots. Look up “french polish” and this explains the technique. good luck…
