GWARCADE

Project by unklegwar posted 114 days ago 319 views 0 times favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is really a combo project. Woodworking, electronics, etc.

Built in my already crowded garage one february/march. About 6 weeks from first cut to first game.

Great job. I’ve toyed with the idea of building one myself, however I have alot more projects before I can seriously think about something like this. How big is it overall.

It’s about 6’ tall. Cab is 27 inches wide, but the (detachable) control panel is 4 feet. Have to fit 4 people around it.

It weighs a TON.

When I built it, my friend and I moved it to the basement and then I installed the monitor (75lbs worth). When I recently moved out, I had to move the whole thing with the monitor in place, because there was no way I was going to play around with trying to remove a monitor that had had all of it’s capacitors charged up. It got funnier tho. We got it to the landing on my basement stairs where they turned back 180 degrees and somehow both of us got on the downstairs side of it. I had to climb into the front, through the cab and out the back to get back on the high side of the thing.

Nice cab. I still play with mine all the time.

Yeah, it came from GWAR. The story includes halloween, alcohol and confused friends, but hey, it works.

My son went to a GWAR concert about a month ago at Bogarts in Cinci. He has a good friend in Tennessee that has seen GWAR about 6 times. I’m told they put a show kind of like the old shock rocker Alice Copper.
