This old chair has been hanging around for a long time.
It was made to see if it would be comfortable enough for a dock bench.
I built this old dock, & bench in about 1964, the year we bought the cabin.
The tools I used were a handsaw, square, & hammer.
The material I used for this was 1” x 3” x 6’ white cedar fence boards
The pictures of the dock shown here, were taken about 1975.
I’ve since replaced this old dock in about 1991.
But this old chair is still usable. You may notice it’s a nice place for moss to grow.
By the way, that’s Barb, my sweetie, in the pictures.

Very, very cool. I have an old cypress bench that was in my mother’s yard for about 10 years until it started serving as a coffee table in my college apartment. Since then, it has made it way back outdoors, but now at my own house and has been the inspiration for the designs that I have built for the last couple of years (see the last two pics in the link).
Gotta love and respect the old stuff with the new. It really is all about the wood!

Thank you Matt!
You may notice all of the Birch trees in for of the cabin.
Most of them have since died off now, & the cabin is hidden by Spruce trees now.
The Spruce all grew in voluntarily by nature.
