Quite a piece of work, both form and function. Great work.
Are the candle holders attached to the table? And what is the little uplift for, a cup of coffee?

This particular piece is a bit of a schitzo, and has the following to offer. “Once upon a time I was a round bistro table. Lar had salvaged my walnut veneer top from the heap, and structured a slightly more robust figure to support it. Well, that Lar, he has self esteem issues, I suppose, and decided that I was like the family cousin nobody wants to acknowledge. He ended up sticking me in the gargage for close to ten years, while he was living in a townhouse. He claims, even to this day, that it was simply an issue of space. Yeah, right! Clearly, he couldn’t handle the fact that he had nothing to do with my top, and needed ten years to forge a plan. Bright cookie, that Lar. Well, one day I get woken up from my usual snooze of listening to the laundry being done, and low and behold, he is brushing the cobwebs off. Nexgt thing ya know he carts me down to the workshop. Let me tell ya, it is scarry in there. Lots of cold steel, motors, knives, saw blades. I saw a dumpster in the distance and figured my days as a retired bistro table were over, and my future was a land fill. Well, Lar had other ideas, and while that ol’ round veneer top got removed and installed on a new white oak round base, complete with four turned legs and a sexy scalloped apron, I ended up getting a facelift. My new self features a Peruvian walnut image, and was fashioned to sit in the corner of Lar’s former townhouse foyer. One corner was diaganoled to become one with the space, and a little shelf was added to house a plant or two. Well, we moved into a new home this year. The round veneer table did not come with us, and of course, the separation has brought on more than a few sleepless nights. As for me, at least I am not in the garage. For now, I am living in the guest bedroom, and, for now, there haven’t been any threats or talks about another mid-life transformation.”
Keep it up, table, and I’ll let the wax cut you down to size!
