A friend of mine at work has had this brand in his mind for forty years. He was a pretty darn good artist as a young man and would sign all his drawings and paintings with this brand. He dreamed it up when he was 10 years old and pretty much on his death bed. He credits his brothers for saving his life. They told him he was going to die anyway, so he might as well get out of bed and have some fun. You should see his smile when he tells that story.

Anyway I’ve never built anything like this before and I thought it would be worth a go. I think I had as much fun building this for him as he had playing with his brothers. And the look on his face when I gave it to him was priceless.

Sorry it doesn’t really fit with the whole Lumber Jock made with wood theme. I just wanted to share it and Bobby’s story

Thanks for taking a look at it!

I like it. I trust you did the wrought iron work? I’m just getting into forging myself, so this would be miles above my skill level. Very cool project & back story.

Yep! Did it all ! I don’t have a forge just muscled the thing. I had no clue what I was doing. I cut a plywood circle and bent the metal around it. Working the letter B was a real finger pinching good time. But, man did I learn a lot and had fun too!

I like it but I’m from Texas and brands are a part of life here. I have done a little “cold iron” work and you did good. What does he call the brand? Circle B or the rocking circle B ?

Oltexboy, I asked Bobby, who is also a Texas Boy, what he calls his brand “Flying Circle B Bar”. I’m an old Okie myself, which is also a beef producing state with lots of ranch’s, just not as many or as big as the ranch’s in Texas. My surprise is the amount of cattle produced here in Arkansas but, my biggest surprise was the beef produced in Florida. I lived down there a few years back and was shocked at the size and number of cattle ranch’s that are there.
