I figured I would add a project, it’s simple but it’s great!
I built these cornhole boards out of 5/8” plywood, 1×4 select grade pine, and 1×4 oak for the legs. This is my third set of cornhole boards and they are by far the best of the three. They are built using mostly pockethole joinery and every joint is glued. There is no finish on these boards but the plan for these is to paint them in the customer’s favorite college football team’s colors with a logo in the front. I am going to put a coat or two of poly on the underside to help seal the entire board.
If you want some more info and more pictures then head over to my blog, “The Woodworking Trip”.
If you have never played then you are missing out!

Nice… I make and sell quite a few of these, all hand painted as well. These look to be 2’x4’, correct?

Dan,
Yep, 2’x4’, nothing to them. Nice website! I see you make these in a small part-time business. How has the economy effected the cornhole industry? lol

Cornhole is pretty simple, it’s easy so it goes great with a few beers and a good friends.
Basically you set up these two boards about 30’ apart and there are two teams of two people. One person from each teach stands opposite another and each side takes turn tossing 8 bags filled with corn (4 each) at the boards. The object is to get your cornhole bags into the hole, which is 3 points, but if you land your bag on the boards it’s 1 point. Each side throws the bags back and forth until the first team reaches 21 points and they win.
That’s the basics of it and it is great fun!
Here is a short video that shows the game being played (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPHyg1aQeL0&videos=9TIhpEaER1A&playnext_from=TL&playnext=1)

OK, I see. I think I use to play a game a little like that when we were kids…..minus the beer. Roz
