If you are new please like and subscribe to my channel, I put out new videos usually weekly
When I find a broken/rusty/old/damaged tool I have a hard time passing it by, I usually bring it home and it gets stashed in some corner of the garage. This particular hammer head was found with a broken rubber mallet which I also put way too much time and energy into (Did the video a long time ago for that one https://youtu.be/8Axvpt1AeCM)
Along this same ‘found’ theme the koa wood I use in this video was grabbed from the trash outside a workshop in Hawaii a few years ago. I decided to fill voids in the joinery the guy was doing with some of the purple/red/yellow yeart woods to make it solid. I wanted to be able to use this when I was done without worrying about ruining the koa wood so I welded on some ‘smash plates’ to the front and back for any errant blows to bounce off of. I originally wasn’t thinking of doing the filework on the handle, but started playing and got carried away.
I was really happy with how this one turned out, the wood just glows in person. It wasn’t anything like I was expecting but that’s a lot of the fun :)
