Hi this is a toy box my mother-in law wanted made for my nephew, the kid has a ton of toys. That being said she wanted it to be 60 inches long even after i told her that was huge she still wanted it that long so here it is. i decided to make it split top so my sister-in-law wouldn’t have to lift a half sheet of plywood every time she wanted to pick up. I think it is going to get panted but thought he would enjoy doing that himself so didn’t do any finishing beside a rough sanding. Thanks for checking it out and hope you have a nice day.

A toy box your nephew will appreciate.

It looks like you just used a piece of continuous hinge for the tops. Any concern about a top falling closed while young hands are in the box?

i though about that but but since he is 5 i figured that after the first time it happens he would learn as my dad would say. but if it was for somebody younger i would put finger grooves under the front edge. I might do it anyway to help with opening i just haven’t decided yet. If you know of a better solution i would love to hear it. i don’t really want to cut into the top front of box because it’s also a seat. I know there are the torsion hinges but those things are expensive. Thanks for checking it out and i hope you have a good one.

Have your say...
