My niece recently got married and I wanted to give her a special turned piece that she could use everyday and pass along to the next generation. This is a cherry salad bowl that is 15” in diameter and 8” deep. The wood came from a cherry tree that was almost 200 years old and had been blown down by a storm early in the spring. Pictures are before I put any finish on the bowl. The finish that I used was several coats of Mahoney’s walnut oil and then buffed with beeswax. The bowl is sitting on all the shavings created while it was turned.
My niece claims this is her favorite wedding gift and that she has already used it several times.

Nicely done. What a wonderful gift! I’m sure your neice is enjoying the sentimental value more than just the lovely bowl itself.

Great looking bowl. I’m glad that you are starting to make use of all that cherry.
