This is the first bowl I made from a burl and it will definitely not be my last. I found this piece lying in the woods, so I’m not sure what type of wood it is. It is sanded to 400 grit and finished it with two coats of CA and four coats of Bush Oil. Thanks for looking.

Matt

Very nice! A new candy bowl? Could it be pine? The bark looks pine-ish…..

Beautifull bowl. You have done a wonderfull job of pulling the beauty from the wood. Outstanding grain. Love the “raw” spots still left after turning.

Thanks for the before and after pics. It just goes to show, not all wood is prety before it gets worked.

Great job.

Keep it up.

Looks like oak burl to me, beautifully done, you worked some magic. Awesome pics too. Nice lathe.

The bowl is very nice, but I’ve got my eye on your lathe. Wife says I can have one just like it as soon as I quit smoking for 4 months. No idea what that burl would be, but I did a cherry burl the other day which looks similar in color. Would be nice to make them bigger than the 10” shop fox allows. Nice job.
