So I really wanted a hand router, but didn’t have the cash flow for a new one. And couldn’t find one on ebay for less that $50(including shipping), so i set forth to make one. Grabbed an old alan wrench and grinded the crap out of it, until it was flat on one side. Didn’t do it all in one day, just 5-10 min at a time, just whenever I went out to the garage. Took me about a week. Just tempered the blade with a propane torch. Then went out and got some fire wood for the body. split, hewed, planed and got it to a decent shape. Turned a couple handles on the lathe. The bottom is nice and flat, and the blade cuts and holds an edge well. However, I do need an alan wrench to tighten the back screw or it will slip.
