A lot has happened in my life since the last time i got a tattoo. I recently started the process of getting a new tattoo in memory if my friend who passed away, and in celebration of my 2 daughters. My artist, Joe Bruce, has done most of my pieces and has done an amazing job, so I decided to make a box for him as a “thank you”.
The main box is constructed using the Rockler finger joint jig, which is amazing. The inside tray is just rabbet and dado construction. I painted the eagle on top, and then scraped off some of the black with a razor in order to get the feathers to look more realistic. I hit it with a butane torch to add a little color, and added the leather nails just for aesthetic purposes. Overall dimensions are roughly 11×13”, the inside is big enough to hold a full size magazine.
Thanks for looking, comments and/or questions welcome! Check out some of Joe’s work on his instagram page here
