I completed these two tables last month in July 2009. The idea came from a larger and very similar table I made earlier this year that is posted in this project (http://lumberjocks.com/projects/16248). The top is maple veneer, with 4 strips of walnut around the edges, purpleheart on the corners and beautifully figured claro walnut legs. The figure in the legs can be best seen in pic 4. Picture 6 is all three tables together and pic 5 shows the tables in situ to the left and right of my living room chair.
I was going to give one of them to my sister when she came to visit from Oz recently but after thinking about how nice they would look in my living room I decided not to. I hope she was not offended because I had packed them up for her and told her husband how to assemble the legs and top etc etc. I ended up completing a tray for them instead. I might make another table and ship that off to them for Xmas.

Very nice set of tables, nice design. I would have kept them too. Love the contrasting wood.

I really like these tables, a very ergonomic look next to the chair. The PH accents on the corners are really well designed, it draws your attention to those beautifully figured walnut legs.

I agree with Mauritius, The Purple Heart really sets the table apart. Nice build

Thanks for your kind comments. There’s meant to be some symmetry in the design in that the table top corners are purpleheart and the posts between the legs (which you can’t really see in the pictures) are also purpleheart. Also the banding on the sides of the tables are walnut and the legs are walnut, albeit claro walnut.
