These are a couple of my recent projects. The pens are antler with a CA finish. Two of them have a small amount of bark left on them. I sell quite a few of these and my market seems to like a little bark left on. I mostly turn for fun however, the pens do finance most of my turning addiction.
The two bowls are both juniper from a tree cut down in the neighborhood. They are both about 7” in diameter. They both were really just practice on free wood, trying out different ideas and seeing how bad I can mess up a finish. The short one has Danish oil only and while I was buffing it, my buffer tried to steal it and smash it against the walll so I just glued the crack so it would not get bigger and left it. The larger one had a big split after I roughed it out and let it dry, so I filled it with epoxy and blue dye. I used too much dye, it bleeds and is too dark. That’s ok, it was a learning experience too.
Thanks for looking.
