a few of the other canes I made in the past couple of years
most of the canes I make get a clear stain on them unless someone wants a special paint job then I use acrlic paint

I normally just use regular pine lumber cause it is the easiest to get for me and just start shaping from there. the handle is carved out first, then I shape the base shaft of the cane to fit, no nails just a dowel in the center carved up from the main shaft after I use satin finish polyurithane.
