Wooden Rattle

Hi all LJ’s! Let’s share another easy woodturning project. I’m bring you a wooden rattle inspired by the classic carvers mallet. It’s made out of sucupira and sycamore wood and finished with food safe mineral oil and then a blended beeswax with carnauba wax.

I liked your video and learned a few tricks too. The rice embedded in the block before turning is clever. You are obviously a much better turner than me, it was interesting to see your gouge techniques.

Hi Bob and thanks for coming by and comment. I’m glad you’ve learned something! I decided to use rice because it’s organic, non toxic and it’s delivers a nice sound. I’m practicing a lot on the lathe but I’m still a newbie.
