After looking at the quality of work displayed here I have realised I am WAY out of my league. Nevertheless, here are some photos of my one successful project to date. It’s a set of loudspeakers I built a few years ago using the Theile/Small parameters for loudspeaker design…back when I thought I knew a bit about audio. The amplifier driving them is a 40W valve push-pull amp I built based on a Chinese design that I use as a winter amplifier (it keeps my study downstairs warm when the temperature plummets below 20 degrees celsius). When we move back into civilised weather around 30 degrees celsius I wire up the excellent North American built Rotel amplifier currently to the right and below the ye olde worlde tube amp. :)
I’m happy with the performance of the speakers as speakers, I’m particularly proud of some clever work I did with the passive crossover, but as an example of woodcraft they are a bit embarrassing. I’m assuming things are expected to sit level on a tiled floor?
My upcoming projects are 1930s style console radio cabinets for a bunch of old radios that I have refurbished, but I have a long way to go.

They look like good woodworking to me!
Two pieces of advice for when those pesky creations won’t sit flat:
a) Don’t admit it.
b) If actually caught, blame it on the floor.

Nice job. Maybe it’s the floor that’s out of whack.

Based on the optical measurements I’ve done on the picture it seems obvious that the floor is tipped. :-)
Excellent work. Tell us about the bookcase sitting next to the speaker on the right. Did you make that as well?

Nice job on the speakers, Wayne.
By the looks of your library, you must be a software developer.

Good morning Tom, I’m not a professional developer but dabble in some fairly narrow fields. My background was originally electronics, them mining, now I’m working in Logistics ! I’m currently implementing some OR and Inventory Control models in code.
Howdy Dr Sawdust, thanks for measuring that up for me ! I think the only possible solution is a new house. :)
The bookcase next to them is a store bought peice of junk that needs sanding.
Cheers,
Wayne

Wayne – looks like some good case work to my eye! Those speaker cases are huge! Just out of curiosity, what are the speaker sizes housed in them?
Also, can you tell us a bit about the materials you used in this project, and not to steal Mot’s thunder, but can you talk a bit about the construction?

Howdy Dorje, my apologies for the delay in replying. The wood is cherry though the internal frame and baffling is pine. The main speaker is 12in with and 8in mid and rectangular tweeter.
