I built this as a present for a close family friend’s first baby. It was based off of the Wood Whisperer’s toy chest plan’s for Woodworker’s fighting for Cancer. The casing is solid walnut and the panels are birch plywood. The inside panels are polyurethane’d and the outside of the panels were painted with chalk board paint so they could write names and draw pictures on it. Pretty pleased with how it came out and slightly jealous we don’t get to keep it now haha!

That is a beautiful toy chest! I’m sure they will love it, the walnut looks gorgeous! What kind of hinges did you use with it?

I used the Rockler Torsion Hinges. They’re a little pricey but very much worth it and easy to install.
