My wife and I were blessed with a little bambino and when it came time to break out the old baby stuff I realized I didn’t have the original hardware to put together the old changing table.
So I made a new one, and customized it a bit by making it taller and longer.
After I thought I was done except for the painting my wife asked me if I could put raised panels on the cabinets…of course I can…so here it is out of recycled 2×4’s and I had to buy the plywood and hardware and paint.
Cool thing is once she out grows this it will be going out in the shop and be the new miter saw station with plenty of storage and weight.

LOL…no no no…I know my kids grow fast and soon enough my little one will be too big to even lift that high. I am 6’2” my wife is 6’ and her dad is 6’8”...we are giants well my wife’s side is anyway so my almost 3 yr old is 45 lbs…once the little one reaches 20 or so lbs she gets changed on the floor…and then the table comes out to the shop for a miter station.
TY for the laugh Ellen.

No, thank you for the laugh!
Seriously, I would like to compliment you on putting that rim around the top for the baby. I have seen several changing tables here without a rim and it scares me (I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and see more than my share of accidents!)

TY…TY…it has a big pad and straps too so no baby is falling out of this thing. It is simple construction but I am learning…I like your laptop/printer table btw…very pretty. My dad has moved in with me, he is semi retired and he watches my baby for us and he has been working with wood all his life so my learning curve just got alot straighter, cant wait to show off the good stuff.

Nice build! I wish I had thought to make one when our first child came along. I would have had to convince my wife that I had the skills to make something that would safely hold our child and at that point (he’s 2 now) I am not sure that I had those skills. Great use of recycled 2×4’s!

That changing table is so cool. It really looks great finished. Don’t count on it making it to the shop before all the eggs are hatch! lol. Good luck.

Sweet. I was afraid to click on this link, but am glad I did. Looks great.
An alternate title could have been Changing Baby Table.

I like your idea of thinking ahead for sure. Only one question the plywood you used on the top shelf to keep little one on the changing table, did you cover the top of that with a hardwood strip of some kind so the plywood edge can’t splinter?

I sanded it , rounded it over and primed it then painted no sharp edges or splinters

Now I think that’s a first, a Dual Purpose Changing Table/Miter Saw stand.
