Coffee Table & Remote Boat

The coffee table and remote boat was made for a young man from church when he was leaving home and getting his own apartment. It was made as much as a foot rest as diner table.

Rough stock lumber was nailed in using some really old zinc coated ring nails. The rest of the construction was an attempt to look like the crazy pallet form.

Not pictured: The finish was made with General Finishes – Candlelite Gel Stain and Arm-R-Seal Urethane Topcoat. Both were wiped on. As you might guess, the pine wasn’t as even colored to start with so that took extra coats to get a more uniform color. I might have used a sanding sealer before hand to give a better base but I was rushed as those gift types of projects can sometimes be.

That is really neat, and very suitable.
