Built: July 2006

Simple project requested by the wife for my daughter’s bathroom. Good to do those project, so that future shop purchases don’t get “held up in approval”. Original goal was to have it done before my daughter was born – I was 4 months late… but it is done now. White Oak, some minwax white wash stain (which I hate, but matches a hook board also in the room), there are little black walnut pegs on the side intended to provide some interest, but they kinda got “washed out” with the white

The rest of the story: I had put those keyholes on the back to hang it. No matter how much I measure and/or make “storyboards” I always struggle to get it perfect….anyway struggling with this one when hanging it slipped out of my hands … I watched it fall in slow motion…upon inspection not a nick or scratch on the workpiece BUT it smashed into the toilet tank lid shattering it into 30 plus pieces….anyone know where to buy replacements toilet tank tops? (the big box stores just sell tank+lid combos)....I got till my daughter is potty-trained ;)

good project … I made a shelf almost like it 30 years ago. good luck with the tank lid. Might try calling a plumber and get salvaged one from a Lowes install or something.

I’d try a plumber or someone who does installs, for a replacement lid. But good luck, a lot of bowls are different shapes.

Great shelf

great little project—-now you have another…make a lid out of wood! Line it on the underside in a thin sheet of plastic…

beautiful shelf – I love the finish, it goes really well with the decor of the wall.

love the story that now goes along with it :)
I’m voting for “plumber” as well.

This is a very functional project. Really nice. I like to see wood used in this situation (most situations actually.) Nice job!
