This bowl is made from clack oak I picked up locally (There is no shortage of oak trees locally). When I put a piece of wood on the lathe I try to have a basic shape in mind of what I would like the bowl to look like. It doesn’t always work out the way I want (it should but…..). As I started cutting the log there was a section of wood once the bark that was cracked. It was not visible from the outside of the log until the bark was taken off. I hate wasting wood so I let the wood dictate what the shape should be and this is what I came up with. Any feedback or comments are welcome.

Interesting Shape!
I really like your thoughts of allowing the wood to dictate the end results. Who are we to try and outguess Mother Nature!

nice finish, very smooth inside and out. I also like the crisp corner on the o.d.

Very nice bowl. Great job. I also like to have a patern to start with. My problem is I am better at recovery then at execution. ( I make mistakes and change design mid way through) haha
Mother nature allway knows what is best. This turned out very nice.
Keep it up.
