This is a storage bench that my wife wanted me to build for our kitchen. It is made from soft maple, and has been painted with a oil base paint. We use it at our kitchen table, and it provides extra storage for larger kitchen items.

Very nice looking ‘storage bench’. I assume that the top hinges up like the top of a chest. Is this correct?

Very nice, I built one similar for my son and his wife for Christmas last year, made it out of white oak, stained in dark mahogony , lined with aromatic cedar slats.

That’s a good idea! Nice job! I want to do something like that for our entryway.

I used three 3” standard brass door hinges for the top. The inside I just painted like the outside. I did not put dado’s on the inside for dividers. My wife did not want any. She mostly uses the bench for storing larger appliances that she doesn’t want left on her counter tops. Thank you’ll for all of the nice comments.
