Project Information
I should have given more information the first time I put the pictures up, but it was late and I just slapped them up.
My next-door nbeighbor is a wine buyer for a major grocery chain. His house, like mine, has a daylight basement (about 800 sq ft) that was not finished when we bought our houses. When he decided to finish his basement he had someone cut through the concrete retaining wall that runs the width of the house, as shown in the sketchup drawing. He dug out the dirt and put in a floor and walls to crerate his wine cellar. The environment is perfect.
Because he wasn't very clear about how big the hole should be…he had to have a custom door.
It was an interesting project, because of the 10" depth of the door opening. It made for a very impressive entry.
All red oak. Six week-ends of work done as a favor…!
BTW…I've never charged anyone for anything. They may pay for materials and supplies, but nothing else. I've done dozens of projects under this rule. You see: I already have a job. This is my HOBBY.
